MusicMagazine

An experimental music magazine combining bold typography and artistic visuals.

Concept and visual direction

This assignment project explores the design of a printed music magazine “GIG” created for Musikhuset Posten. The concept is rooted in reflecting the diversity of music through a playful and experimental visual language. A blend of styles is used throughout, drawing inspiration from collage techniques and artistic expression.

Bold color combinations, dynamic compositions, and contrasting elements are intentionally applied to create an energetic and engaging reading experience. The inclusion of an AI-generated cover adds a contemporary layer to the project, emphasizing innovation and the evolving nature of visual media.

The vibrant and expressive visuals are balanced by a structured typographic system, where large display fonts and a consistent layout create clarity and cohesion across the magazine.

Process and Skills

In this project, I worked with both the creative idea and the practical side of putting a magazine together. I focused on concept development, layout, typography, and preparing the design for print, making sure everything worked well across different pages and formats. I also designed a small advertisement spread and created a fold-out calendar in the center of the magazine, to enhance both functionality and visual interest.

The project gave me the chance to explore how structure and experimentation can work together, while building on my skills within editorial design and print.
